The tiny village of Battersby is a collection of a dozen or so farms and houses 4 miles east of Great Broughton scattered over a quarter of a mile along the road to Kildale and lying just inside the boundary of the National Park. It is by-passed by most of the the tourist traffic, which heads from Stokesley and Great Ayton to Kildale via Easby. There is also a row of cottages about half a mile west at Battersby Junction.
