Cleveland Hills: Introduction

Broughton Bank

The CD has (approx) 16 pages about the Cleveland Hills.
The north facing scarp slope of the Cleveland Hills rises sharply to over 400 metres. During the last ice age, a glacier from the north, at a height of about 300 metres, cut a series of cols through the slope to create the characteristic undulating profile. The melt water was channelled towards lower ground to the south, establishing the north to south drainage pattern which applies to most of the North York Moors.
