|
Cropton Forest is an irregular shaped area of woodland interspersed with open farmland, some five miles north of Pickering. The villages of Cropton and Newton-on-Rawcliffe lie just outside, while the hamlets of Keldy Castle and Stape are surrounded by forest. There is a five mile forest drive from Mauley Cross (one mile north of Stape) to Levisham Station along a dirt track (toll on Sundays). There are good views over Newtondale Gorge. |
