![]() The CD has (approx) 11 pages about Goathland. |
| Goathland developed as a residential village after the railway arrived in the 19th Century. Unlike nearby Grosmont, with its workers' cottages, the houses are comfortably spaced behind wide greens over the space of a mile of relatively flat ground above Eller Beck. In the background, the moors provide a dramatic setting. As 'Aidensfield' in ITV's 'Heartbeat', Goathland has attracted crowds of visitors since the 1990's. A car park is provided by the National Park and trains run to Grosmont and Pickering along the North York Moors Railway. A waymarked footpath follows the course of a historic rail route to Grosmont. Mallyan Spout is a 20 metre waterfall near the pub of the same name. |
