Lastingham

Lastingham is a peaceful village set amongst fields and woodland in a hollow below Spaunton Moor. It is 5 miles from Kirbymoorside but is reached only by minor roads from Hutton-le-Hole and Appleton-le-Moors. There was a Saxon monastery here and St. Mary's Church has a Norman crypt. A visit is worthwhile to see several attractive buildings and for the views, across the village on approach, and looking out from within.
