| Beyond the Valley Gardens at Saltburn, Skelton Beck is channelled through a steep limestone gorge with banks cloaked in mainly deciduous woodland. The route through Rift's Wood (alternatively known as Rigg's Wood), is a beautiful walk of about a mile along a shady path. It heads down across Skelton Beck by a footbridge, underneath a railway viaduct and passes a small waterfall before rising on the opposite bank close to the outskirts of Skelton. |
