The CD has (approx) 12 pages about Skinningrove. |
| Skinningrove was a remote fishing hamlet (with smuggling traditions) set in a narrow cove until the opening of the first of 5 iron mines in 1847. This led to the building of rows of cottages in the village (and at Carlin How close by the works) for the miners and workers at the steel mills on the hill top. Though the mines are long gone, the steel works still survives through product specialisation. For a time, the steel was transported from a small harbour. |
