Support for Users of 'North York Moor Tour' CD ROM

IS THE DISC FAULTY?

The autoload on every disc is checked before packing. If your disc does not load after 30 seconds, try the following:

  1. Run the disc in another computer to see if there is a problem with your CD drive.
  2. Alternatively, open the 'My Computer' window on screen and double click the icon for the CD drive containing the 'Moor Tour' disc. This should start 'Moor Tour'.

If a disc is faulty at the time of purchase, a replacement can be obtained, but please contact Dave Titchmarsh BEFORE returning the disc to avoid unnecessary returns. A disc is not necessarily faulty if it fails to run on your computer.

PLEASE READ THE HELP SECTION WITHIN 'NORTH YORK MOOR TOUR' FOR TIPS ON HOW TO MAKES THE MOST OF 'NORTH YORK MOOR TOUR'. INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN THERE ARE NOT REPEATED HERE.

Issues specific to Version 1.0

This section is intended to provide after sales support to purchasers of  Version 1.0 of the CDROM (discs nos 1-70 on back of case), by addressing any difficulties as they arise.

SLIDESHOWS:

Problem: The slideshow can 'freeze' if you are using some versions of 'Internet Explorer' that are customised by your Internet Service Provider (BT Yahoo for one please let me know of any others). This is an intermittent problem and at present I do not have a means to prevent it.

Solution 1: Drag the main screen display slightly down (by holding your left mouse button on the title bar) to reveal the empty browser window beneath (titled 'Fullscreen'). Close the 'Fullscreen' window. The slideshow controls should now work.

.... or 2: If you cannot see the 'Fullscreen' window by doing this, press the 'Windows' key on your keyboard (this is on the bottom row to the left, between Ctrl and Alt). Find the 'Fullscreen' entry on your Taskbar and right click on it, then left click on close. If necessary, press the 'Windows' key again to hie the taskbar. The slideshow should now run.

Even when the arrow keys fail to work, the slideshow can usually be advanced manually with a single left mouse click until it reaches the end, then returning to the chapter menu, which will function normally.
