Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe, two miles away, and on to Thirsk (in
the middle distance), some five miles away. The Pennines are on the
horizon, some thirty miles away. To put this picture into context,
Lake Gormire is just off to the right, while Hood Hill and Roulston
