Thirsk

The Golden Fleece, Thirsk The CD has (approx)
19 pages about Thirsk.
Thirsk, where the Golden Fleece Hotel was once important as a staging point on the coach route north, is now a busy market town 4 miles west of the National Park, with excellent road communications via the A1 and A19 and a station on the main East Coast rail line. Its status as a centre for touring 'Herriot Country' was enhanced by the novels of local vet, James Herriot. Horse racing takes place at the course near the town centre.
