Thornton-le-Dale is one of the most beautiful villages in the National Park, with cottages set back prettily across footbridges over Thornton Beck. There is a large car park to cope with the hundreds of visitors who stop here every day. The village lies on the A170, just two miles from Pickering and fifteen from Scarborough. Despite heavy traffic through its centre, Thornton-le-Dale manages to maintain an air of peace and quiet away from the main road.
