Westerdale

Westerdale is a steep sided valley some five miles long from south to north. The valley is narrow at its exit near Castleton, but splits into two parts, separated by Tor End (seen here sloping down from centre right. The western branch has the source of the River Esk at its head (The Esklets) while the eastern branch is bounded by Castleton Rigg, in the background.
